I got sucked into a TikTok anti-aging rabbit hole after my fyp inexplicably rec’d me a video listing the “top 5 things that are aging your skin.” Those five things were:

-eating with your facial muscles
-drinking with your facial muscles
-sleeping on your side/front
-using your facial muscles to talk
-being outside

So basically, just being alive???

Anyway, I spent 20 minutes of my life in an ADHD trance watching all the things they recommend to stop the aging process, and now I’m fighting the urge to slather myself in Crisco and go stand in the sun for several hours out of spite while using my facial muscles to emote heavily and consume life-sustaining substances.

I completely understand this urge and normally would encourage anyone to do anything to spite tiktok quackery

but in this case I would recommend you slather yourself in SUNSCREEN because though aging is beautiful and natural, skin cancer is not your friend

I hate that it needs to be spelled out (I get it, people are doing bonkers things like *gestures at anti-aging TikTok*), but my threat to incinerate my skin with Crisco out of spite is hyperbolic.

I might be fatally allergic to sunscreen (this is not hyperbole, it gives me anaphylaxis), but you’ll never find my goth ass outside without a giant sun hat, UV-rated parasol, and SPF clothing.

The rest of you wear fucking sunscreen. Unless you’re allergic. Then get a hat. A big one. And some SPF clothing. It works better than you’d think.
